How to Use Propel's "Pitching Project"

Pitching to journalists is a crucial task for any PR professional. With Propel's Pitching Project, you can manage every step of the process—from writing your pitch to building media lists and sending personalized emails—efficiently.

Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. Go to the "Projects" tab.

  2. Click "Add New Project".

  3. Select "Start Project" under "Pitching".

  4. Name your project and select the relevant account you’re working on, and then click "Create Project".

  5. Click "Write Your Pitch". Choose one of the following options:

    1. Generate AI Pitch: Select from Propel Standard Voice or a custom brand voice.

    2. Write Manually: Create your own pitch by adding the subject line and body.

  6. Don’t forget to click "Save" once you’ve completed your pitch.

  7. Click "Build Your Media List". Choose from the following options:

    1. Media List: View existing media lists.
    2. Add from Database: Pull contacts from Propel's journalist database.
    3. Add from My Contacts: Use contacts already added to your account.
    4. Import from CSV: Upload a CSV file with journalist contacts. Make sure the file is formatted correctly (a sample file is available).
    5. Create Contact Manually: Add journalists manually by filling in the necessary details.

  8. Use filters to search for specific journalists or publications.
  9. Click "Personalize and Send Email Drafts to Journalists".

  10. Choose your sending preference and your preferred email client (Gmail or Outlook):
    1. Send to Selected Contacts: Choose this option to send your pitch only to specific journalists you've selected from your media list.
    2. Send to Everyone on the Media List: Use this option to send your pitch to all the journalists included in your media list at once.

  11. Click "Create Drafts", fill in any placeholders, and hit "Submit" to send your pitches.


By following these steps, you can efficiently manage a pitching project from start to finish, saving time and ensuring your pitches reach the right journalists with personalized content.
